Scottie, Spaniel, Bloodhound Oh my! is a trending post on Puppy Love.  We know about the Scottish Terrier, as a breed character in Lady and the Tramp.  We know about the American Cocker Spaniel, as a breed character in Lady and the Tramp.  Yet, what about the Bloodhound, likewise a breed character in Lady and the Tramp?  In this post, I will introduce the Bloodhound as Breed of the Day on Puppy Love.

The Bloodhound holds a history dating over 1,000 years with origin in St. Hubert, Belgium.  Obedience training is difficult because this breed "takes pleasure in tracking" and will be distracted from human command.  (Dog Breed Info)  The Bloodhound is often used to hunt animals, criminals, and lost children.

The Bloodhound temperament is kind, patient, gentle, and affectionate.  This dog is great with children to the point, according to Dog Breed Info, that rough play is tolerable because the received attention is much appreciated.  The Bloodhound is a family companion and does love everyone as well as other household pets.  When outside, the Bloodhound is energetic and independent.

Owners, new and experienced, must show firm and natural authority and leadership when obedience training.  Patience is also highly important.

Socialization when young is necessary to avoid the dog being timid.

Daily walks, mental exercise, and physical exercise are, with all breeds, requisite.  NEVER leave this particular breed off leash when outdoors.

The Bloodhound is well-known for catching a human scent - "a rare ability in a dog."  (Dog Breed Info)  The Bloodhound track has been known to last over 100 miles.

A note of intrigue - Bloodhound evidence through criminal searches is admissible in court.
