Benni the Labradoodle

Today's daily puppy is Benni the Labradoodle.  Benni is so cute and is such a unique breed.

The Labradoodle breed is a cross between the Labrador Retriever and Poodle.  Simple understanding.  Exception.  There are two Labradoodle types - the Australian Labradoodle is a purebred, the American Labradoodle is a hybrid.

The American Labradoodle has been bred in several different ways, too complicated to explain here.  To read more about this hybrid as well as other photos, visit Dog Breed Info Center at http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/labradoodle.htm

PAWS Chicago Golden Retriever available

PAWS Chicago has a Golden Retriever available for adoption.  Meet Blue -

This striking gentleman is 8 months of age and is described as an energetic "life of the party."  Blue loves to play and loves being around other dogs as well as people.  Basic obedience is instilled in him, but Blue does need further training from a forever family.

If you are in the Chicago, Illinois area, stop by PAWS Chicago, call or send an email to their adoptions address (all as stated on the PAWS Chicago website) to set up adoption arrangements.

Blue has two other adorable pictures linked to his profile information.  See http://www.pawschicago.org/adoptions/dogs-available-for-adoption/blue/

Golden Retriever

Sawyer the Golden Retriever

Today's daily puppy is Sawyer the Golden Retriever.  Sawyer is a most cuddly puppy and is my favorite breed.

The American Kennel Club tends to agree - "The Golden Retriever, with its intelligence and eager to please attitude, is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. . ."  A full history of the Golden Retriever breed can be found on http://www.akc.org/breeds/golden_retriever/index.cfm

A sweet video on "the Golden" can be found on Animal Planet - http://animal.discover.com/videos/dogs-101-golden-retriever.html

Enjoy this perfect breed!

Dog Breed Info Website

One find for all information on various dog breeds is Dog Breed Info.  This site lists a general description, temperament, physical features, health conditions, best living conditions, requisite exercise, life expectancy, grooming, origin, classification, and recognitions.

If interested in information not found on the American Kennel Club website, visit Dog Breed Info at http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/

Milly the Flat-Coated Retriever

Today's daily puppy is Milly the Flat-Coated Retriever.  Milly looks so gentle and innocent and her breed is seemingly unassuming.  Yet the Flat-Coated Retriever is in fact a breed with history.

The Flat-Coated Retriever is a hunting breed by nature but in family life settings, is equally as active.  This breed likewise performs well in dog shows for its obedience.  The Flat-Coated Retriever derives from a cross between the Newfoundland, setter, sheepdog, and spaniel water dog.  British and North American fishermen often traded this breed and eventually was termed simply "Labrador."  Shortly thereafter, the term "Wavy-Coated Retriever" described what is now the Flat-Coated Retriever.  Appearance is literal - straight and flat coat that protects the dog from the elements.  A more detailed history of the Flat-Coated Retriever can be seen on the American Kennel Club website - http://www.akc.org/breeds/flat_coated_retriever/index.cfm.

Ham's Forever Home

I am thrilled and sorrowed.

Ham - my little puppy German Shepherd - is no longer on PAWS Chicago.  I can all but assume that he has found a forever home.  I am thrilled for him, as he has been available since this past summer.

Ham - my online pup - has been in my heart for so long.  I truly fell in love with him and so dearly wanted him in my forever home, wherever that might be.  I am sorrowed - I never had the finances to adopt him in time and bring him to a forever home suitable only for the best.

I am unemployed with zero prospects.  I have searched for over a year for any job that pays, let alone a job in the field I trained for in graduate school.  I write now, as a means of emotional escape.  I blog here, but only time will build this site up to where I hope it will be.  I write online articles, but the better majority of my revenue is through traffic and ad profits share - in other words, getting rich quick is just not possible unless I devote all of me into article writing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 4 weeks a year, and so on and so forth.  I am a novelist, but my first book is still shopping for a literary agent.  With somewhere around 30 rejections and that many more waiting for a response, a yes - that one yes - is slow in coming.  I have signs of hope in getting that one yes - "I did not fall in love with your story...Still I think you have a pretty solid idea...Someone is sure to love your work and give a nice offer" & "Your story sounds interesting" - all positive feedback in rejections telling me that my book has caught the attention of the publishing world and representation will follow.  My writing, though, requires patience.

Ham could not wait.

I will always appreciate your support - following Puppy Love, visiting Puppy Love, reading the content and looking at the advertisements, and generously donating whatever can be afforded.

I will always love Ham and no one will replace him in my heart.  All puppies and older dogs deserve a loving forever home.  Someday I will be that forever home provider.

Dog Leashes on Amazon

Bloodhounds are trailers by nature - the second they catch a scent, off they go. . .and go miles and days from where they started.  Owners, then, need to keep their little ones - pups or fully grown - on a leash.  Amazon.com offers nine selections.  If you are considering a Bloodhound pup, utilize the Amazon Search Box at the bottom of my site to see what is available.  My search read "leashes for Bloodhound dogs."

The 411 on Dogs 101 : Bloodhound

An excellent first-hand look at the Bloodhound can be found in the Dogs 101 : Bloodhound video on Petfinder.com.  This video discusses the history of the Bloodhound from the point of view of veterinarians with live pups and older Bloodhound dogs as reference, especially when health and training come into topic.  The little ones in this video are too cute.  So. . .Check out the link to Dogs 101 : Bloodhound on http://www.petfinder.com/dog-breeds/Bloodhound.  Enjoy!

Bulah Belle the Bloodhound

Today's daily puppy is Bulah Belle the Bloodhound.  How she looks ready to go!

The Bloodhound breed is best known for tracking humans by scent.  Originally, however, Bloodhounds hunted deer and wild boar.  This breed's standout capability is sensing scent hours or days old and tracking down the source.  Quite naturally, then, the Bloodhound is greatly utilized by law enforcement in finding escaped prisoners, missing persons, and missing pets.  Wikipedia offers a most detailed history of the Bloodhound.  For further reading about the Bloodhound breed, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloodhound

The Bloodhound is gentle and affectionate by nature, thereby making this breed a great fit for families.  Standard weight of this dog, however, is 80 to 110 pounds.  So caution should be taken around small children.  Always note that the Bloodhound is on the go, as its trailing instincts once sparked can last for quite some time.

Bulah Belle is a sweetheart in a loving home.  Yet there are so many in need of a forever home.  Petfinder offers a sample of adorable Bloodhounds available for adoption in the United States - Reed in York, South Carolina and Teddy in Summerville, South Carolina.  To see more adoptable Bloodhounds in your area, visit http://www.petfinder.com/dog-breeds/Bloodhound.  (Click on "adoptable Bloodhound dogs" and enter your location information.)

Best toys for sports dogs

In a Google search for the best toys for sports breeds, Amazon.com ranked high in results.  Amazon strongly recommends Fat Cat Water Bottle Crunchers for dogs living an active lifestyle.  These toys give the crunch sound of a water bottle, a sound that apparently tickles sporting dogs to death.  If your dog is active like Riley the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, check out the amazing deal below!

Riley the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever

Today's daily puppy is Riley the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.  This little one is a sweetie with such a long breed name!

The history of the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is rather literal.  Toller, as is known, is playful outdoors especially along shorelines, chasing balls or sticks.  This energy often catches (or tolls, lures) the attention of nearby ducks, who (sadly) come within shooting range.  The dog then retrieves the dead or wounded bird.  Early generations of this breed date back to the 19th century when Europeans brought red decoy dogs to Nova Scotia (this breed has shades of red).

The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is active as a water dog, loving, good with children, and intelligent.  Maintenance is minimal.  For more detailed information, visit American Kennel Club at http://www.akc.org/breeds/nova_scotia_duck_tolling_retriever/

Ham

Ham is a 6-month-old German Shepherd.  Ham is a special dog and is currently in the care of PAWS Chicago.  At just 6 weeks of age, little Ham had poor use of his hind legs due to a past injury.  As time has gone by, he has grown much stronger and is now at nearly 100 per cent.  Ham is described as playful and goofy.  Who could not love this sweetheart?  I love my online boy.  There is just one problem - I am over one year unemployed and write to earn mere pennies via blogging, online article publication, and novel writing.  I do live with my mother, who is financially struggling herself.  Our apartment building does not allow dogs and oh how I want desperately this pup that I have watched for months on PAWS Chicago.  With Ham being my first post on http://lovealwayschessie.blogspot.com/, I ask once and only once for financial support in any amount so that I might someday bring Ham to a forever home that does allow dogs.  If you wish to make a donation via PayPal, see the icon below.
