I am unusually stubborn by nature, a quirky personality trait not from genetic inheritance.
When I was in primary and secondary school, college, and graduate studies, I did my best. I worked hard and settled with grades I put effort into, whether an A, B, or even a C.
I completed my educational career in 2009 and pounded the pavement in sprint strength. I tracked down every lead holding interviews. I spent hours every day - Mondays through Sundays - researching the tiny print in my copy of the Yellow Pages book. As a paralegal by training, I cold called and cold emailed every law firm relevant to what I learned. My determined search went well into 2010. In the summer of 2010, I began tracking down any lead holding interviews, legal or anything really. In the Fall of 2010, I came to a halt. Puppy Love, of course, was launched in November 2010 - a silver lining to a failed career hope.
I took to creative endeavors in 2010 to present. I wrote, edited, and rewrote a full length Young Adult fantasy fiction novel...that was never picked up. I wrote Bedtime Tails...yet to be picked up. I delved into poetry...personal interest more than anything. I dabbled in making greeting cards...creating designs was fun, but the business end scared me out of continuing forward. In 2013, I took to designing and making fashion jewelry. This endeavor was taken seriously - financial investment, time investment, and going ecommerce in March of this year. To date, I have had two sales on my website and three custom order requests. The business end continues to spook me and as I have yet to receive another sale, I no longer promote my site.
In 2009 to 2010, I was determined to find work in the legal field. In 2010 to present, I was determined to do anything worthwhile. Determined.
In late 2009, I visited a friend who had recently moved into Chicago. We hung out in her apartment in a complex newly built...The Morgan. My hope for a dream apartment was set on another complex that was also fairly new...until I discovered The Morgan. I fell in love with the property amenities and her unit amenities in less than one second. To date, The Morgan is all I see as my first apartment and my stubborn refusal to consider anything else is pretty well set. Stubborn.
This year had me determined to find a work from home career. Determined. This year has yet to change my mind about The Morgan. Stubborn. I am currently going back to researching anything in the legal field. The Morgan is still in my head. Determined and stubborn.
Do you see the quirky personality trait in me? When I find an interest or lead with any possibility that will get me into The Morgan, I latch on like a bulldog and refuse to let go until I see a positive result. I call myself "Lauren the Bulldog."
