Duncan is a most adorable Labradoodle puppy!
I have long been intrigued by the Labradoodle breed. In November 2010 - Puppy Love launch month - I wrote briefly about the Labradoodle. In this post, I will once again ask what is a Labradoodle?
A Labradoodle is a cross between the Labrador Retriever and the Standard, Miniature, or Toy Poodle. The purpose is to combine the naturally low-shedding Poodle coat and natural temperament of the Labrador (as well as the Labrador's ease of training). A further benefit of this cross is being a guide dog for those who also happen to have extreme fur allergies.
Although Wikipedia states that the Labradoodle tends to have unpredictable behavioral traits as a hybrid and not a true breed, the overall Labradoodle temperament is friendly and energetic. Labradoodles are good with children and families in general.
A note of interest regards the Labradoodle coat color - shades reflect anything a Poodle would have. Examples include chocolate, apricot, black, silver, and many others (refer to Wikipedia for a full list).
Labradoodle information is surprisingly abundant if one queries "what is a labradoodle" on Google. I will nonetheless always be intrigued by such a unique hybrid.
